First 351 engine build
Ok, hey there guys, im on a mission and its a budget build for a 351. now i would like to stick a beautiful ford racing 351 crate motor in there but the top end ones are like 7k and i figured, if i dont build my own engine now from scratch WHEN WILL I EVER, right? (im 17) so price wise it makes sense and ill have fun at the same time. Ive done a ton of research and think i have convered everything for the 351 swap into a 95gt but when it comes down to building the engine ive never done it before and if im going to save money i need to learn how. So my question is, is there a nicly detailed book in which i can pick up from offline or a store tht will give me a good step by step how to build a 351 or at least a ford motor?? ive got almost all my parts picked out and ill run em through u guys but i need to learn how to actully build an engine before i get to drop it in. and i know this is like second nature to most of u but im the only gear head in my family andi dont have the time or luxury of practing on another car or tearing down another engine, besides i dont want to screw up my 351. Thank you all, Rob

RE: First 351 engine build
there is a book called "how torebuild the small block ford". i am using it for reference on my 351 build. i got it at my local parts store. it is a great book very detailed bolt by bolt. it also has a lot of performance stuff, and formulas for carb size and stuff.

the only problem with that is, you dont know how good the guy is at building engines or how quickly he just threw it together. your engine could go bang after 2 runs at the track.
