Install EFI on a 392W - HELP
OK I try the search function but came up empty. I am really new at this EFI stuff but it time to update from a carburetor. I have a 392-crate engine 430 hp @ 5500RPM and 450 ft. lb @ 4000 RPM from Ford. I want to run a MAF system. I am looking to go with the Trick-Flow intake. My questions are, what size MAF, Throttle body, injectors? Is a 90 mm Throttle body to big for a non-supercharge engine? I will be running a 5 speed trans but have no place to install the VSS. What can I do about that? I hear with out a VSS the car will stall out when coming to a stop or slowing down. What wiring harness would you go with if you did not have a stock one? Thanks for your help.

What is the 392 in? What is your compression ratio? You would probably be better off finding a donor car to get the complete harness from and swap into yours. This would eliminate alot of the guess work. There are alot of factors that determine what size MAF, injectors and throttle body to use. You are probably on the safe side with your setup although the MAF seems a little large. Whichever one you use, do not forget to have it calibrated to the size of injector that you are going to use.

The engine is a 392W crate engine from Ford. 9.7:1 compression ratio with a 9.5 deck height. Cam is 232 / 240 duration @ .050 with .566 / .576 lift hyd. roller. The trans is a ZF with 4.22 gears. I think an aftermarket wire harness would be best but what one? Just looking for a starting point. Thanks for your help.

Basically your set-up based on horsepower lends itself to 30lb injectors, technically if you do the calculation, it asks for 27 so you are between 24lb and 30lb so far as what's available. Wiring harnesses you can buy aftermarket already tagged to eliminate confusion if you are new to this game, so if you want to buy a set used great, but you had better make sure you have somebody with you who has done it, or label the harnesses.
Next, do you need 90mm no, will it run? That actually has a lot to do with your heads also, but it should be fine so long as your tune is done correctly. P/M me if you want links to harness places, I know a ton of places you can get them pretty cheap. Also do you have an ECM already? Or do you need to find one? I can help you with that also. P/M me.
