Default Rebuild?

I have a 95 351 roller block I am going to rebuild...going .030 over bore but the rest will basically be stock. I was wondering if there was a good kit to put me in the 9 or 10 to 1 ratio(not sure what heads I am using yet....just say a 60cc chamber. Am I going to have to peice it together? It wont be blown or sprayed...basically a mild DD build. Thanks

Would it be better to just piece something together? I just want to get my parts list started and I don't know too much about building engines, especially which pistons to use. Any help would be appreciated.

13cc dish pistons, zero decked, .41 compressed HG's and 58cc heads
gave me 10.2 - 1 compression.
you could up that a little more with .039 compressed HG's

The only reason I would deter you from using Hyper. pistons is that at some point down the road you may opt to S/C or spray your motor, you will automatically be looking at another tear down. My advice is go ahead and buy forged flat-tops, and you could find 64cc heads to keep you in or around 9:1-9:5:1 which still keeps you in somewhat blower or spray territory. Or you could go with a small dish forged piston like r.barn was referring to. Bottom line I would get forged to begin with.

Any specfic pistons to get? Like brand? I don't mind piecing a kit together, I just don't know what to buy.

+1 for flat tops, that way you dont have to be zero decked to still get the compression your looking for and there is meat left in the deck surface of the block for another rebuild. you dont wanna max out a 351 roller block right off the bat, they are hard to find. (for that matter you can probably get pistons in .020 so that *hopefully* it will clean up at .030 later on.

madman is right that forged are better, but of course if you KNOW your not going to s/c or spray it then hyper is fine and 1/4 to 1/2 the price. best bang for the buck pistons are the coated skirt sealed power pistons made by federal mogul.

Fisrt of all WHAT'S UP 77!!!!!! Second Federal Mogul is fine TRW another good product. There are high end products out there if you go to Coast High Performances website they are a factory rep for a good piston line (forged). The only issue I know of is that it is rare that people option to not power adder the motor. Let's face it, after you get spanked a couple of times, you'll want to get some knock down power.

wasssssup madman

Second Federal Mogul is fine TRW another good product.
federal mogul bought trw like 10 or 20 years ago, same part numbers and same casting molds still but anything speed pro/sealed power/trw/umpteen other companies is all federal mogul.

i'll have to say that if your getting spanked with a decently build 351w roller motor you have problems [8D]
