Default balancer questions???

OK heres the story.

i needed a balancer to balance my new 393 rotating assembly. after spending 1800 on an all forged assembly my wallet was hurting pretty bad. my engine builder was quoting me prices in the 250 to 300 dollar range for a sfi balancer. cheap *** me, didn't want to pay that much so i ordereda cheap one from summit...$130. i get the balancer in the mail...but get this...it says it will only fit 351W up to 1980 (it didn't say anything about what years it would fit in the catalog). my engine is an1984. what exactly changed in 1981why will this balancernotfit. i didn't think they changed at all untill the roller blocks came out.i don't want to take this to my engine guy and it not work. he will think i am a tard. i hope summit is wrong on the years. has anyone had this problem before. oh yeah it is a 28.2 oz imbalance, part number C4269.
please tell me it will work.

Default RE: balancer questions???

It should not make a difference. The only issue might be the bolt pattern for the crank pulley. Now, one thing that has come up on aftermarket balancers is that you sometimes have to run a spacer between the pulley and the balancer. Ford Motorsports sells them.
