Default 351 questions

I really don't know anything about a 351 block... So my first question is this a 351 W? How do you tell? The guytold me it was and it came out of a 77 Granada and I found the following info on that model car.

The '75-'80 Granada/Monarch was based on the '69-'77 Ford Maverik / Mercury Comet.

4 Engines Available:
200 3.3L I-6 1-Barrel Carb 72-76hp
250 4.1L I-6 1-Barrel Carb 97-98hp
302 5.0L V-8 2-Barrel Carb 134-139hp
351W 5.8L V-8 2-Barrel Carb 144-152hp

My next question is $200 a good deal for the complete motor and C4 trans? It was running when he took it apart, but he ran out of moneyfor his project. I really wasn’t looking for a 351 but it fell right into my lap. If this is a 351W is there anything bad about this model/block?
Pics below.

you can tell its a not a cleveland b/c the timing chain is not incased with metal, like a cover built into the block. I think it should also have a "W" next to 351 in the valley. The only thing bad with that year for those blocks is not roller equiped, but thats a personal preference and it does not use a one piece main seal. but they are supposed to be of the stronger blocks and the 2 things i mentioned can be fixed.

those cylinder walls look pitted.

75-76 351W BLOCK ID # VIN CODE "H" HEAD ID #

D4AE-
D9AE-
D5AE-, D5TE-
Notes: CARB, W TE
77-83 351W BLOCK ID # VIN CODE "H,G" HEAD ID #

D4AE-
D9AE-
D5TE-, D7OE-, D8OE-

There you go. And If the block is machinable to .030" over and the C4 runs perfect I say offer $150. Althought 200 isn't toooo bad. Have fun and build it big!
