Default help me choose....

I have a 408 that i just got back from the shop and now i want help on what to close off the bottom end with. I am thinking either a canton 7 quart or a moroso 7quart. this is going to be a race car but not an all out crazy fast race car. As far as pick ups what would you guys suggest? What about a nice oil pump? Sorry, i'm kinda new to the pushrod engines and don't know what the best companies out there for these types of engines.

Melling standard volume oil pump, unless your engine builder tells you otherwise.

I have a Canton Pan 7qt Road Race pan, and like it. Never ran a Moroso, so I can't compare.
Buy the pickup tube from Canton for the pan you select. Just make sure that the pickup is clearanced to the bottom of the pan properly, as some adjustment may be needed.

On a drag car you don't want to run a standard Melling pump. You will need to go with the high volume pump and either of the two 7 qt pans. Either one is fine. The reason for the high volume and the deep sump pan is when your car transfers weight the oil will follow and you don't want the pan to get sucked dry. If you run a standard pan you run the risk of that happening. Don't run a standard pan (ford racing conversion)and a high volume pump. It will suck the pan dry at high rpms. For those non believers you car run a high volume pump with the frpp pan. You have to clearance it some.
