cant get car to crank
converted a 89 lx efi to carb 357w. i have a mini summit starter. i tested the volts to the starter its got a good ground and voltage. tested the starter too not bad. it does turnon when i have it outta the car and i hook a batter up to it. but once i put it in car it doensnt even click. ive got a ground wire even running to the starter in the car . im trying to think am i missing another ground like the ground to the back of the engine bay to the dash panel. i have my batter hooked to the frame in the back of the car and the posi runs to the starter relay. any other ideas?
thanks

I installed a jumper cable between the starter solenoid and the starter motor hence their were 2 starters so i just made it go off original wiring. Its has to do with somthing with my ignition switch because if i put the key onto key on mode and take off the starter side on the starter solenoid and touch the key on side it cranks over until i take off the cable, so it has to be ingnition switch wise, but i just bought a new one so it must be wiring?

is it a mini starter with a solenoid built onto the starter? If so, I believe your car has a fender style solenoid because the original sarter was not equipped with one on the starter. There is a light blue(not completely sure) wire with a red/purple tracer that goes to the fender mounted solenoid. This is the wire that activates the solenoid when the key is rotaed to the"start" position. You need that feed to also go down to the small connector on the mini starter that will"energize" the solenoid allowing it to activate the starter and turn the engine over.
Once the key is released, it kills the power to that wire and thus shutting down the sarter.
