Default First build, have some questions...

Well recently i scored a freshly rebuild 75' 351 bored .060 over, with all new bearings, freeze plugs, rods, pistons, rings, and a set of 16 elgin lifters. I will be using heads with a 60cc combustion chamber (procomp 210cc heads) making the compression 9.5:1. I know everyone has their opinion about those heads but they will be cheaper for me to use instead of buying new heads. The question i had was how do i know what kind of cam and intake (carb) to get that will suit my set up best? The guy i got the motor from was a older guy that use to build motors, and he said a cam is a cam, manufacturer is not important... what do you guys think of that? He recommended Elgin cams as thats what he always used to use and he has never had a problem with them (he has elgin cams in both the cars he had in his garage supposedly). As for intake i was thinking of just using a victor jr. Also another question i had was how do i know what ratio roller rockers to use and how do i figure out what length push rods to use? Im sure i will have more questions in the future, any help is appreciated.

I learned this lesson the hard way. Get a custom cam youll be happier in the long run.

This is where I got mine:

How much did that run you? I was thinking about getting the comp cams big ***** thumpr because it says its for 9.5:1 compression which is what im going to have, and the lift dosent seem like over kill.

It was $50 for him to spec it out and 325 to grind it. Its pricey but you get better results than just grabbing a OTS cam.

Well, what does the car weigh with driver? What rear gear ratio? What transmision are you using? Also: more strip and less street or equal street strip? All street? This will help someone to give you some answers.
