Default weird piston charing

Im seeing weird piston charing on certain pistons but not all. 1,4,8 pistons. the others are all pretty normal light brown and clean. recently rebuilt the engine. im new to the whole motor thing but i did it with a seasoned builder. did we do something wrong?

I'm assuming you mean carbon build up on the tops of the pistons. A picture would help here but I'm guessing you have a couple valve seals on those cylinders that may be going bad. Allowing a little oil to be burned up.

Just a guess....are you seeing any blue smoke out the back at startup or any slight haze behind you at night when a following cars headlights really show it off ?

wasnt a slight haze it was a massive cloud! I was pretty sure i had a oil in the cylinder problem because of that but what would cause the loose piston on the pin?

Yup, time for new valve seals. Not that bad of a job.

As for the wrist pin, was it a tighter fit when you installed it ? They shouldn't wear out unless it's a manufacturing defect,or installed incorrectly, or an oiling issue caused premature wear. Hard to say without looking at it.
