i took my car to the muffler shops today. they said they could put in dual flowmasters from the cats back for 400 bucks. has anyone done flowmasters and what do u think of them? how much power is added and is the sound great? also is this a good deal?

they said they wanted to run 2 straight pipes from my headers...from reading past posts i heard that this gives it a bad sound at idle. should i do this, or have them make an h pipe or better yet for money saving purposes connect 1 new pipe from my y pipe and run it like that? what are the effects of each? also what did u pay for yours?

looks nice. what kinda bumper is that? the stock pipe is 2.25 i think wouldnt 2.5 reduce backpressure too much? when u drive does it feel more powerful, or the same?

on a v6 true dual stick to no more than 2.25" maybe even 2" if it's true dual.

my LS2 GTO has true dual 2.5" and if it's plenty for a 450hp car, 2.25" surely will be enough for a v6 likely to stay under 300hp, infact the 350hp LS1 GTOs had 2.25" true dual stock.

I know from experience that making you car straight run duals with no h or x pipe WILL sound like sh$t at idle. It will sound like an old propane powered tractor or something. It will puff so sporratically from the mufflers that it actually vibrates the car. I did a post not to along ago becaue after I converted my stang to straight run duals, i was IMMENSLEY dissapointed. So dissapointed infact, that I just recently took out the work I did and re-did it all back to the stock configuration with a GT takeoff muffler. It was actually embarassing to sit and idle at a stop light, peole thinking, thats a brand new stang and it sounds that **** poor? Unless you have an x or h pipe to use, DONT MESS WITH YOUR EXHAUST< LEAVE IT ALONE!! LOL. In all actuality you can do what you want, but this is just my experience.

i have a true dual from the headers back 2.5", h-pipe, and Flowmaster 40-series and love it. I'm glad I have the 2.5" because I plan on F/I. Plus the V-6 comes stock with a 2.5" and the GT has dual 2.5" I also had no H-pipe before because I went to a chop shop that didn't know what they were doing and it was a little bit deeper than the sound of a honda with a fart can exhaust. It sounded like CRAP! Deffinitly get an X or H pipe.
