Default Hurst Short-Shifter

I have an 06 Pony and recently installed a Hurst competition shifter. It shifts great, only problem is, there's a lot of vibration coming up from the shifter when I "get on it", you know... Anyway, I called Hurst and they said they haven't had any problems with them, but they would gladly replace it if I sent it to them. So, I took it off the car, and it ain't the shifter that is to blame for the vibration, technically, well, it depends how you look at it. I found that there is play in the shaft that directly comes out of the transmission that attaches to the shifter's linkage. I don't feel the vibration with the stock shifter, I believe because of the rubber bushings and the flexibility and length of the shifter itself. The hurst is a lot more rigid thus making any imperfections elsewhere more apparant, or, apparent at all. Anyone with a similar mod or experience? I do like the Hurst, and I can live with the vibration, but, is it damaging my car???

Thanks!

No damage if you shift correctly....I would avoid holding on to the shift ball after the shift is complete and you dont anticipate shifting soon. Some guys will ride it, treating it like an armrest and never take their hand off the shift ball...bad for the shifter fork .

Even the saleen short shifter adapter using stock bushings/shifter setup added vibration. Its the price we pay for 3 inch shifts....

Mines been in over a year. This Spring , I noticed a vibration crusing at 70 on the highway. Turns out the two screws holding the chrome part to the shifter below the boot were loose. Used some good Lockite and no more issues.

Yeah, I thought it was the chrome part below the boot at first, but those bolts were snug.

So, the shifter fork is the actual part that comes directly out of the transmission? Is it acceptable for that to have a little bit of play?

Someone had the idea of locktite and nylon washers on the chrome pieces which works pretty well.
