Do not settle for no, and you will get it fixed.

52k miles. I could try calling their customer service but they're just going to tell me the car only had a 3 year/ 36k mile warranty. Plus a syncronizer is a component that could wear out due to abuse and they'll just claim that, even though I didn't abuse the car at all.
Btw, downshiftingdoes not destroy your transmission. That's a bunch of poppycock.

Yeah. Downshifting to 2nd at 80 mph and downshifting to 1st at over 20 mph will wear out your tranny but it'll destroy your clutch before that happens.
But downshifting to slow down will not hurt your tranny at all. such as downshifting to 2nd at 40 mph.. unless you are driving on a ****ty tranny from the 1970s.

There are firms online that sell rebuilt T-5s for a lot less than that. Maybe you can find one that will use yours as a core return. Much easier to just remove & replace than to rebuild yourself.

Who is dumb enought to shift into 2nd from 80? And your better off buying a take off tranny...

I feel for you man, and I do not blame you for the problem, 2nd gear on the T-5 goes out with alarming regularity.
