Default tuner

ok so how do these actually work i have a few questions.
1.like if i were to get one now with a cold air intake but down the road got more mods like gears and a t-lok and new wheels and tires does it have to be retuned?
2. if you get it from bamachips or brenspeed do the tunes come loaded on the tuner itself or do you have to download them online?
3. where do you download them to in your car?

any info on this would be appreciated thanks a lot

I don't have one yet so I'm not 100% positive, but correct me if I'm wrong...

1. You could get it now w/ the CAI and when you get gears or new wheels/tires you can manually changethe tunew/ the handheld tuner.

2. I think they email you the tune

3. Not sure on that one

Somebody who knows more should post soon, don't worry.

The port to plug in your tuner is under the dash on the drivers side.(OBD II port)..

I got my xcal 2 from Bama.
It came with three tunes installed on it. 87&91 performance / 91 torque
If i wanted a different tune, bama would email it to me.
You can adjust many things, including gear ratio and tire size.
It plugs in under the dash on driver side.
Hope this helps.

1.) You can buy the tuner as a combo with the cold air intake. If you install future mods you can get a revised tune emailed to you from whatever shop you decide to go with. If you have a manual trans you can just use your XCal3 to make adjustments for different gears or tire sizes. With an auto, you will probably want a revised tune if you go with different gears or different size tires because the changes may affect shift points.

2.) The custom tunes come preloaded into the tuner from the shop. When I ordered my Bama tunes I was given a choice of the different tunes I wanted. I chose 87 performance, 93 torque, and 93 race. I use the 93 race tune for daily driving and haven't really used my other tunes.

3.) You install the tunes into your car by plugging the tuner into the OBD port. It is located on the bottom of the dashboard to the left of the steering columnnear whereyour left knee would be while driving.

If you everget tunes emailed to you, you have to download the SCT livelink software from SCT's website. The software is free to download andyou use a USB cable to send the tune from your computer to the tuner. My XCal3 did not come with a USB cable for my computer, butyou can take your tuner with you to a computer store and buy a cable that fits. It supposedly uses a pretty commonsize plug.
