Default Kooks headers?

Anyone heard anything good about these headers? I see they make longtube headers for us 4.0s.

and what do spark wires do exactly?

Kooks makes top of the line headers. They are pricy but known tobereallyhigh quality. They are very popular with the GT crowd.

for $650 they better be good headers. they don't even come with the gaskets or hardware. they look just like the mac perfomance long tubes. i would just go with those.

i don't know exactly how the plug wires work. but i do know if you replace them with the jba 9mm power cables and a screamin' demon coil, you will notice a difference in power and engine response. they are fairly cheap too. i got the coil for $90 and the spark plug wires for $65. probably a 10 or 15 horsepower increase and really easy to install once you figure out the wire looms in the engine bay.

I've seen and heard them. They sound fantastic, and look just as good under the hood. They are a bit pricey but they are as good as it gets. Beautifully made pieces, MAC doesn't even come close to these. The fitment was great and install was easy from what I'm told from the mech. You can't go wrong with these.

aren't long tube headers for the sixxes associated with loss in torque though? and what were the power gain (hp) with them?

Check this out on Streetfire. This is the car I've seen in person.

I've looked a lot into headers, I almost made one for my Saturn since we have no aftermarket, really. The longer the tubes before the collector, the higher up the hp band is, and the less torque. I'm not sure how the stock manifolds are set up, but on my car it's a 4-1 right at the engine, plus they're a pretty small diameter, so anything aftermarket is going to lose low-end torque and hp.

If you're drag racing or doing some application where you keep the engine revving high up, the long tubes are your best bet. Especially on cars that don't lack torque to begin with. It also depends on your mods. If you regeared your Mustang to 4.11 gears, long tubes would probably be pretty nice.

This is all just opinion, what I like. If you could try out different styles of headers, you could get a feel for what you like best.

i wish i had the funds for to do that, buy and try, buti want everything done in one shot lol. that's why i have been doing extensive research on these forums before my money came out of my wallet. i guess im going withmy initial headers, which are the jba shorties. my car is a DD, so it doesn't see track/drag racing. just the ocassional speeding on the highways
