07 V6 clutch problems??
Anybody have any issues with the clutch in there 05-08 V6 mustang?? I have an 07 Pony 5 speed with 19K on it. Everything was fine until I went out yesterday morning and the clutch pedal was spongy and I couldn't get the car in gear. Had it towed to Ford dealer today and they called with a CYA message saying that I could be responsible for the repair if the clutch disk measures to thin. Apparently it is only warranted for 12 months 12K miles. I have never driven this car hard or remotely "smoked the clutch". More than likely it's the slave cylinder or something else but it just pissed me off being accused of burning up the clutch since it was a "mustang" and being told I might have to pay for the repair.
Any one else had this problem?
P.S. I've been driving Sticks for more than 25 years and never burned a clutch up before, even on cars that I have driven hard.

I had this happen on my 1990 FORD Probe GT that I used to "baby"......I dumped the clutch in 2nd one day.....racing a kid.....and blew out an O-RING in my clutch slave cylinder.......
I had a "Spongy" pedal..........but I could build pressure and switch gears if used my hand or (or one foot on the clutch pedal, with another foot underneath) to "pump the clutch"
One clutch dump caused this problem for me.....it was a $4.00 fix. I hope you are as lucky.
I rebuilt the slave cylinder myself with an O-ring from work)...I bled my clutch myself with the help of a friend under my car, tightening and loosening my slave cylinder bolt, and me using the clutch pedal to "syphon" clutch fluid out of a bottle underneath the car....

Picked the car up last night. Looked at the pressure plate and first notice how cheap looking it really is compared to others i've seen over the years and then I i've never seen one where a couple of the fingers just bent. The service writer was trying to tell me it was from one of the springs on the pressure plate. I just chuckled, there are no springs on this pressure plate and the disk looked fine, nothing missing. A big Ol' Made in Turkey stamped all over the thing!!
Good to hear its covered under waranty. I have experienced the 'spongy' clutch about three times now. After about 4-5 attempts of putting her into first, it finally goes into gear. First time it happened i had about 2,000 miles on her. Right now she has 7,000, but hasn't dont it recently. Anyways, thanks for the info!
