Default TAKING OFF THE SPEED LIMITER

Anyone know how? I cant get past 115 without it stopping me. Is it something a tuner can get rid of? is it something i can take off myself or would i need a mechanic?

hey man. yes a tuner like sct or diablo will let you raise the speed govenor. but know this your driveshaft on the v6 has been known to break at speeds over 120mph. check youtube for a few videos of dyno runs and something goes pop. driveshaft. and with the tuner you can change it yourself through the optional parameters.

The V6 Mustang is governed because the stock BF Goodrich tires are only rated to 112 mph. You need a tuner to turn off the speed limit and better tires.

really any one piece lightweight aluminum driveshafts are better than the stock ones. will even gain a lil hp by switching. try shaftmasters and other driveshaft shops. could also use the search function and see what everyone else on here is putting on there. the v6 is really good off the line bc the torgue is at max power so early in the rpm range. so racing a six on the interstate is really its weak point. know from experience. got smoked a lot on the interstate, since i was on a 45 mile trip to and from work on the interstate the whole time i owned the v6. got my a-- handed to me a lot of times. not anymore though. changed that when i bought and tuned my first gt and bout to do the same with my new gt. take it easy and good luck with the search. might want to look into gears too if you like racing on the interstate. 3.73 with a trac lok would help a little too.
my first mustang you got a sick setup going on your 6. nice. justin at vpm tuned my v6 too. justin is really good. does he still have the shelby gt500 in the garage?

even a civic ex would be competition from a highway roll, so plan on lots of things beating you on the highway.

ive had cars put 15 lengths on me on the highway, and i have over 400rwhp lol.

Its not the drive shaft breaking thats the problem.
Its the pressed in u-joint bearing caps on some of the 05 models.
Ford recognized the problem and started using snap rings
to retain the u-joint bearing caps in the driveshaft yokes
sometime late in the 05 year model.

thanks for the info. i know i worried bout mine still when i had it. seen to many ds where i work(land rover) pop and damage the trans panstoo. ends up being a pretty expensive fix. thats the reason i kept my speed limiter on my 06. some of the reason i upgraded to the gt.
