whats the intended use of these? does it have something to do with keeping heat off of the throttle body for lower intake temps?

this is from steeda's website:
Steeda's Patented Billet Aluminum intake spacer is designed specifically for the V8 and V6 S197 Mustang. Made from Billet 6061 aluminum it is designed to give you more plenum volume for increased horsepower. The swirl design helps promote airflow by breaking the surface tension of the incoming air. An increase of horsepower and fuel milage should be seen with this part.

Increases of 2 to 4 horsepower are typical as well as an increase in fuel mileage

This also from steeda's website:
Steeda's Patented bullsh!t item descriptions are designed to make the potential buyer think he or she is getting a performance and efficiency-increasing mod and not a hunk of crap, when in fact that is exactly what he or she is getting - a piece of pretty aluminum poo.

They're supposed to add torque but yeah...don't buy one...save that money and put it towards a tuner if you want to feel some gains. I actually began using mine as a paper weight shortly after getting it

Edit: I just thought of another use...VERY expensive Christmas tree ornament

Edit again: I just saw how old this thread was...I'm in the middle of working a 10 hour overnight shift so sorry for the revive.
