Default adjusting shift pressure

I have an SCT X3 programmer and I was wondering what are the shift pressure settings every one is using on their current tunes. The shift pressure settings on my tune is at 0% for every gear. Im trying to get back the aggressiveness my car use to have when I had a 91 VMP tune.

Various tuners (Brenspeed, Bamachips, VMP, Evolution, AlternativeAuto, etc) set up their transmission settings at different levels, so some will be tire-chirping brutes, while others are easier on the tranny. Also, some tuners allow adjustment to various parameters using the handheld tuner, while other companies keep them locked.

I have the SCT2, so consider that when reading my experience. I tend to leave my shift pressures at zero% for street use. Yes, chirping tires in an auto sounds cool, but I don't like the added street it places on the transmission. Once I get to the track, I would pump up my pressure to 20% for the first four gears, and turn the overdrive off. Once I am finished racing, I'd reset my options with the handheld tuner and be on my way.

If you feel that you MUST increase the pressures to enjoy the car, then my advice would be to go easy when increasing the pressures.

If you have an aftermarket tune in the car, I'd say leave the pressure alone. That 0% includes the adjustments made by whoever made the tune.

I was messing around with the tune last night. The place I got my car tuned told me that they left the shift pressure to modify at my lesiure. I tried setting my 1-2 at 15%, 2-3 at 10% and my 3-4 at 5%. When I go back to see if my tune was set, it all set back to 0%...is this normal?

I have my 2-3 set at +15%. All others at zero. Every time i change tunes, all paramaters I have changed are lost and need to be reset again. Fan temps, rev limiter, idle speeds, shift pressures, etc....

That does not sound normal, at least with a XCAL2. Not to state the obvious, but once you change any of the parameters, you then have to load the tune. Then, if you want to change the parameters back, even if it's the same tune, they should still be there at the levels you changed them to. Once you modify them you have to reload the tune, even if its the same tune have in there at the time.

Nevermind, I forgot to press select to change the settings...do I set my first four gears at 20% or do I have to even it out? ie 1-2 at 20%, 2-3 at 15% and 3-4 at 10%

You'll probably find you'll need or want different settings for each gear transition, and you'll have to try them out to get them the way you want (at least that's been my experience).

If you are tweaking WOT shifting, a useful tip is to datalog your runs, see where the rpms are shifting (log rpms and commanded gear), and tweak to get the shifting at the rpms that you want. I found this VERY HELPFUL, especially at the track, when trying to get the proper shifting out of WOT runs, especially 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd since they happen so quickly.
