Going out of Warranty

I just purchased a used 2008 V6 Mustang Coupe, and its already at 32K miles.

It almost out of the bumber to bumber warranty, Is there anything I should look for as far as problems with this model/year?

I want to catch them before I'm out of luck..

Thank you for your help,

Perfect condition inside and out, paid $9,600.00

You still have a 5yr/60,000 powertrain warranty. It will cover the expensive stuff like engine internals, gaskets, trans, rear end. I would say not to worry about it and save the money you were going to spend on the extended and put it in a savings and draw interest off it....Or put on some mods! :icon_headbang:

I have a 07 GT and my warranty is about to expire too. Is it worth it to bring it to a dealer and let them check it out for any issues now?

My check engine light came on last week when I was driving back home from a long trip. I drove directly to the dealer and parked it there with 35,990 miles on the odometer. It would have cost me $300 to run the diagnostics and replace the O2 sensor if I had driven just 10 more miles.

A couple of weeks ago I also had to replace the entire Shaker 500 CD changer and reprogram some settings on the power windows. I just got lucky that both problems happened now instead of later. There was no way to predict a problem ahead of time with either issue.

Get out! :icon_eek: Either somebody sold you a lemon or Stangs are UNWORLDLY cheap in New Mexico! You can't find anything under $14K in my area...and that price is for high-mileage '05s!

Nice pickup at that price.

I know what you mean about going out of warranty. On Dec. 23, my car went out of warranty, but I'm not concerned. I think as long as you take car of it like regular oil changes and maintenance, it should last a long time.
BUT, since you still have time, check under your hood for the TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) for any signs of hood corrosion. Unfortunately when our Mustangs were being manufactured, the hoods (made of aluminum) were cross contaminated with another metal causing some places to bubble and eventually eat through. If you do a search you will find some pictures on the 2005-20010 forums. It usually occurs near the edge and looks like where they welded the hood. I had mine fixed while it was still under warranty.
You may also want to feel around the underside of the front carpets near the kick panels for any signs of moisture or dampness. Some Mustangs have experienced the TSB problem for leaking. If you drive your car through the rain, you definitely need to check for this.

Review the TSB's listed in the sticky in the main 2005-2010 forum for anything that seems to pertain to your car. Other than that, if you're not experiencing any problems, just DRIVE.

i agree with satur9poet. you need to get a carfax done on it. why would anyone sell a 08 mustang for 5k less than blue book unless there was some reason. But hopefully you just got a great deal. does it drive straight? look under the hood, are there OEM parts? are the VINs scratched off? does it smell like dead bodies in the trunk?
