Default 2010 CAI availability?

I am wondering about the 2010 v6 CAI availability? I have looked on AM and the only CAI i see is the bbk one which I have head conflicting reports about. I want a JLT and tuner combo nut I only see them for the 2010 GT.

I also have a question about the stock airbox. I have heard that the stock airbox on the 2010 is not that bad when paired with a k&N drop in. Is there any truth to this?

Well the K&N will always be an improvement over stock. It's not going to make a whole new car but your MPGs will pick up a bit and you might get some smoother revving. Plus you'll be saving money on new filters, since you'll never have to replace the filter again, you just clean it.

As far as intakes, here's a 2010 Airaid:

And a K&N model:

DO either of those require a tune? will I be able to be tuned for either of those CAIs when I pick up my SCT?

Thanks for your reply

The K&N does not require a tune and the Airaids used to have an adapter in the intake you could leave in if you do not have a tune or take out if you had a tune to compensate for the extra air. I'm assuming the 2010 model also has that since they refer to their intake as having a modular air tube

You can get a tune for either of them. Obviously you'll have slightly higher gains if you use an intake that requires a tune from the first place but I hear that the intake itself can only take credit for less than 10% of total gains from the intake/tune.

Bottom line: If you plan on spending ~$230 on one of these intakes plus another $380 on a tuner with tunes you may want to go ahead and buy a bundle from AmericanMuscle or Brenspeed with an intake that comes with a tune.

I have the K&N intake myself, and really like it, but I probably wouldn't have paid full price on for it. I was just lucky to find one for $70

Here is a link to a place that, from what i understand from following the forum, is a tuner designed specifically for the 2010 (difference in hood shape = difference in heat shield).

Seems that those that have tried it on this forum have had positive results. I believe they have tuner/intake packages as well.

Good luck!

Will the 05-09 intake/tuner combos fit the 2010?

It seems to depend on the make of the intake. The BBK advertises to fit 05-10 but that 2010 K&N kit in the above link is different from the K&N FIPK intake I have in my 07. It could be that they just took the opportunity to do a refresh or had to adjust their design for some small reason. I would contact the manufacturer before making any purchase for a 2010 engine if I'm considering using 05-09 parts.

I bought the BBK and Tuner package from AM and it works great! Love the free tunes for life also!

C&L has the '10.

My only regret buying from them was the Diablosport tuner rather than the SCT.

To get a custom tune I gotta find a local race shop, can't order from Brenspeed or Bama...But even on the canned 91 she woke up nicely.
