BBK Cold Air Intake Question - please help!
I recently installed a BBK Cold Air Intake #1737 - no tune (on my 2007 4.0 L V6 auto) and have been hearing some rattling when stopped (with foot on brake). It doesn't happen all the time, in fact, MAYBE a couple of times driving around town all day to and from work, the gym, etc. This is no big deal, but my main concern is when I shift from drive to park, the rattling and shaking happens ALL the time and on two occasions in the past month, the car shuts down completely (without turning the key). Anyone have any ideas? No check engine light is on, I followed all directions perfectly, hose clamps, bolts are tight. Any help, advice, comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Are you describing a stall due to low RPM? That doesn't surprise me too much although I'd have expected you to say you threw a CEL. I'd disconnect the battery for 20-30 minutes and then put about 20 or more miles on the car to see if it resolves. If not, then I'd put the stock air box back on (and again lift a battery lead) and see if the car reverts back to normal.
Bite the bullet and get a good custom tune. You won't regret it. A stand-alone CAI is worthless.

Not sure if due to low RPM. I will have to keep an eye out and get back to you (who knows when that will be because it doesn't happen all the time). I agree - I will be getting a tune. Would that help solve the issue? I will try disconnecting the battery and driving as you suggested. Thanks!

After reconnecting the battery lead, be sure those XX miles are mixed driving. It gives the PCM some data to "relearn" certain settings. Those first 10-20 miles or so can often include some rough idle and/or wierd engine response.

I took it out for a spin to grab lunch and yes, the RPMs do drop around 500 and then it shuts down. It only happened when I arrived to pick up lunch (overdrive was on for some reason). With overdrive off, and upon returning, RPMs dropped (around 500 and stayed there) but it acted like it wanted to shut down but did not. Could this be some kind of vacuum leak? Thanks!
I have an Airaid CAI that does not require a tune and I never had any issues w/ it throwing any codes or stalling out the Stang. I eventually got a tune from Brenspeed and it made a huge difference in performance!!!
Check with AM or Brenspeed and ask them if a tune would help resolve your issue.

Thanks everyone. I think I may have found and solved the issue. The hose that connects to the side of the tubing on the CAI was not securely fastened. It was on but not clicked on securely. The RPMs still drop a bit when going from drive to park, but no stalls yet and no CELs. Hopefully, that helps. As an aside, how much do you think a good tune would cost ballpark? Thanks.
