hey guys i have a 2005 mustang v6 and i just put a new non brand intake that i purchased of ebay, looks like the filter is too small, and also the pipe looks small. Does that effect my car and should I just purchase a new filter and switch it in or what should i do?

How much smaller is the new intake? Filter size can make a difference but maybe consider spending the cash on a more common intake.

I'm pretty sure I know which intake.you bought... is.the pipe chrome and came with an extra small red filter? If soo I bought that for a dry nitrous set up.. go to your local auto one buy a spectre filter .. the big 1 and tighten it.down onto your intake pipe. And that should do it. Or check your local Craigslist for a tune required cai, and act tuner unlocked. I bought my tuner used and my cai used both for a total of 175

Most no-tune-required CAI's are virtually useless for power gains but can tend to throw a CEL for running lean (too much air and the OE PCM programming can't compensate). But it sounds as if your CAI is useless in both respects; not enough airflow to worry about running lean. In order to get any power gains, you need a different CAI with a good custom tune.

If you want to get the most use out of your CAI, get a SCT handheld tuner from American Muscle or Brenspeed, which includes 3 custom tunes. You will feel an immediately performance gain!!!!
