Default troubleshooting

Hey everyone, wanting to see if someone can trouble shoot this with my 2007 v6. Going about 75 mph, stomped gas down and quickly let off. CEL came on. Got home and ran the codes. Said running lean. Disconnected the battery, then let it sit and reconnected. Turned it on, no codes. Car sat for about 2 hours. Decided to try and drive it. RPMs won't go above 4k when driving. Car is super "loose", speedometer is barely climbing up even though I'm clearly going fast. I can smell some richness, and I may be paranoid, but hear a clicking in the valve covers. I'm sure it's been there before, but like I said, paranoid. I'm not sure what to think. Not throwing codes. Fuses are fine. MAF looks good. I'm also not running any tunes. Idling about 750. No surges. Does bog down a bit on start up, but idles fine. Any ideas? Vacuum leak maybe?

Update: figured out that I'm not supposed to Rev higher than 4k in park. Also seems like the small plug on the passenger side valve cover (not sure what it's called, sits direct behind alternator) seems really loose. Idk if maybe the pressure blew it loose or if that is even the issue. The second thing as I've been reading, is that maybe it's just my speedometer. I'm not throwing any codes, and car seems to be shifting fine. It's an auto.

If yours was an '05 or early '06, I'd say that you have a stepper motor issue in the gauge cluster (which was chronic in those years) although you can't rule that out.

Did tightening the plug resolve the CEL? There were some hesitation/bucking issues with the earlier models due to fuel pump issues but I don't recall that causing a thrown CEL.

The "loose" thing could be your PCV Valve. if the gasket is cracked or dry then you'll get a vacuum leak causing a Lean code

So everything is okay. Guess it was just in my head. No codes, gauges all working the next day. Only thing I notice now, is that my rpms seem to drop to about 500 when in gear. Idle is fine, but when at a stop or in gear, they drop to about 500 and my engine shutters. FuEl filter was changed in april.

At least on the 4.6L, idle issues are often associated with a dirty TB. That's a simple, inexpensive maintenance item to try before doing anything else. Adding the proper mix of SeaFoam to the fuel tank is worth trying, too, followed by adding Techron fuel system cleaner every 10k-12k miles.

check all hoses and fittings. then inspect throttle body , id also check the cps crank shaft position sensor mine seems to be leaking going to replace gasket soon. 65 k miles never had a CEL knock on wood
