Default ARP Rod Bolts

Anybody have a P/N and cheapest source for ARP rod bolts for the 4.0?

Thanks, Phil Swanson

instead of asking somebody else to look up part numbers for you, why not just call ARP and ask them? then you can take the part # they give you and search it in google for the lowest listed price.

I checked on line and didn't find anything. I called ARP this morning and nothing. I guess Mazda V6s are not a priority. You pretty much have to go to Ford or Mazda. Some use Ford V8 bolts but that is no good. Its 8 mm in diameter and if you go 5/16" SAE, you will be too small and your cap will be misaligned with the rod. Going to use the old nuts with red Locktight. For some reason, those are expensive at the dealer, more than the bolts! You have to wonder if these throw-a-way motors are worth rebuilding with all the TTY bolts throughout.

Thanks, Phil Swanson

its prolly because most people dont rebuild v6 engines for performance or otherwise, its cheaper to buy professional reman with a warranty.

I doubt these rebuilders replace all the TTY bolts. Many basically just wash and do a hone and re-ring job. And maybe do the heads if you're lucky. A rebuild yourself and doing it right would approach the cost of swapping in a 5.0. If I was buying a new Mustang, I sure would spring for a GT. Well worth the $$ over a Mazda motor. I can't believe Ford, swapping in a cheap Mazda motor under a Mustang disguise. They would have been better to hold over the 3.8, a fine motor. Now I have to go after the Takata recall with this darned car. What a POS!

ford and mazda have worked hand in hand to share the cost of engineering for the better part of the last 40 years, so its not a "mazda" motor, its a motor that ford and mazda engineered and share the use of in order to save on r and d. any rebuilder that is reputable will replace all tty bolts while performing a reman., they will also at minimum perform a valve job on the heads. not sure where you are getting your info.

I have had to re-do many motors that rebuilers have done before. A mass production rebuilder never replaces more than he has to. Clean and paint is the mantra. I have found that the largest ones are the worst.
