First Time Nitrous...

First Time Nitrous...
Over the summer I am looking at gettinga nitrous kit for my car. I'm planning now (February) because I want to know as much about it as I can before getting it in my car. I have a ton of questions, but I'll ask them one at a time...</P>
I have my eyes set on a ZEX Nitrous kit. I heard these are the "starter" or "Ricer" kits...which will make it safer and ideal for me to use. </P>
At the same time I'd like to get a Purge kit so that I can clear the lines...and spray when I pass by girls on the road <IMG src=smileys/smiley1.gif border="0"></P>
I plan to <U>only</U> use this on the track. It is not something I will use on the streets everyday to f**k up my engines. I wouldn't anyway because I already almost got arrested once for racing and learned my lesson the hard way <IMG src=smileys/smiley19.gif border="0"></P>
Thoughts?</P>

Actually, it's a dry kit...what are the advantages to a wet kit? </P>
The ZEX kit puts the nitrous into your air intake...someone said something about wet kits having to be put into the engine?</P><edited><editID>ricekiller2003</editID><editDate>38031.5409259259</editDate></edited>

With a wet kit, there is far less of a chance of leaning out your engine and going kaboom. </P>
But, properly tuned and with a rather small shot, say 100 for example, is safe for a dry kit. </P>

I'll go with the wet kit....125 Hp shot, (max), higher than that the internals may have to be upgraded (i would).............The dry kit would not be safe for a newbie like you..all wet kits are around $500, also get a good set of Fuel and Nitrous pressure electrical gauges, a bottler blanket warmer and make sure you fill it up with 93 octane always..The new kits come with a WOT activation switch and an arming switch that you install on the car console, so the chance of shoting lean is extremely minimal as along as your fuel pressure is tuned for the injection jets (follow the Manufacturer's Table of recommendations)..You may have to retard the timing min 2 degrees (steeda timing retard)up to 125 Hp, higher than that then more timing retarding as recommended by the kit manufacturer . The wet kits are composed of a"Y" shape nozzle thta is installed into the CAI tube as close to the Throtle body as possible, the Fuel and nitrous solenoids , hoses and wiring are connected to this Nozzle yet. If you need more info PM, hope this help..<IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">Nitrous is a safe and cheap Power adder alternative and the engine will not suffer at all as along as you follow the manufacturer's recommendations.. <edited><editID>N2OJunkie</editID><editDate>38031.8485532407</editDate></edited>

WOT? Not absolutely sure, but does that mean "When on throttle"? </P>
</P>
I'm not sure I fully understand a few things...</P>
</P>

How do I adjust the fuel pressure? If I have someone professionally install it, will they take care of this?</P>
</P>
"You may have to retard the timing min 2 degrees (steeda timing retard)up to 125 Hp"</P>
So I would need a Steeda timing adjuster to do that? Would I keep the timing the same all the time, or only when I plan to use the nitrous? Can I get away without adjusting the timing?</P>

WOT= Wide open throttle</P>
You can adjustfuel press by tuning with a chip, but if you are driving a Modular engine stang and you plan on runnign nitrous below 125 shot the stock pressure will be enough, otherwiese you'll need a new fuel pupm, min 190lph pump.</P>
Yes, you'll have to retard it at least 2 degrees, you can use a steeda adjuster or the electronic one that will retard the timing only when you WOT and sho the Nitrous</P>
Hope this help.</P>
