Why would you want to adjust your timing? Does increase horsepower or maybe MPG? Just wondering thanks

I'm getting it done as soon as I get my SCT Tuner, I read it can increase HP by as much as 15HP. Typically a safe adjustment brings about 7HP. Hopefully mingrey01 will chime in on this one since he already has his timing advanced to I THINK 16*. Not sure on that one though.

so with adjusted timing and the tuner you should have around a 30 hp increase or at least around that right?

no you can only adjust the timing a certian amount you can either use a tuner or one of the timing adjusters but you don't need both. and it really depends on the car and engine when it comes to how much and and up or down.

Exactly, the SCT should advance the timing a little, usually people have that done when they say they have a 91 octane tune. Without running a higher octane you would hear the engine pinging.

Clicky Click! Check out this link...MM&FF gained 6RWHP and 15RWTQ just by adjusting the timing forward by 5 degrees. The tests are done on an Automatic '01 GT.

it also depends on what grade gas you are using. if you advance it too much you will lose power.

^I use 91 Oct.

So with the DIABLO tuner...
It goes up to 10 Degrees... so if I took it up to 10Degrees... that would mean I advanced the timing 20Degrees?

So if I want it at 15* advanced... on the diablo I put it at 5* right?
