i looked around but couldnt find an answer so im gonna post real quick. im in the middle of an oil change as we speak, i usually dont do them i just have them done but i had time and needed one done, so how much oil does a 98 gt take. sorry if this has been posted alot

 

Put in 4.5, then keep checking as you go... never go by what the specs are....each motor is different (carbon build up, sludge, etc)

 

my 96 motor took 6 quarts, my 01 motor takes 6 quarts.

 

hey thats cool i just did mine today also. i put some engine restore in with 5 quarts of oil and the oil gauge is a little right of vertical. thats 5 quarts plus 19oz so id say 5 and a half is good. i just switched to full synthetic from regular mineral so i figured id add something to help the seals out

 

i added the engine restore also, haha

 

I am about to do some gasket replacing and tranny work... when I fill up the oil again i'm putting in valvoline high milage oil... prolly sings to the same tune as those additives

i think 6 is way too much
the owners manual says 5 quarts and i put in 5 quarts including the engine restore and it barely registered on the oil guage so i kept adding till it got close to vertical and 5.5 was a smidge past it.

 

6 Qts.

its generally 6 quarts, but i had to put 7 in my cobra the other day.
