RE: Warm up engine before hard throttle???
my engine takes a while to warm up. i usually just start it and let it sit for like 5 min. if i dont let it sit i take it real easy through the gears until it warms up. question..... is that oil guage on the cluster oil temp or oil pressure?

wait til it's warmed up before getting in on it. i usually let my car sit for 2-5 minutes before even driving it in the morning. gotta let the blower lube up itself

both the one that looks like a thermometer is the oil temp......the one that has the old school oil can is the oil pressure

As for the question, is it bad? Mabye mabye not. You won't be putting out as much horsepower (this is one reason why your gas milage for short trips is much lower than longer city trips) at that low temperature because a much more of the energy from burning the gasoline goes into heating the block, water, oil, etc. instead of onto the ground.

I wouldn't spin the **** out of the motor until it warms up a little bit and the oil gets everywhere it needs to go, but warming up the car for 5 minutes before puting it in gear is a waste of gas.

i thought we were talking about letting it warm up in my driveway "for a few minutes" sorry i forgot to be specific with you. and it only helps to ice an intake when the block is warm. thats all
warm block warm intake > cold block cold intake < warm block cold intake
warm block warm intake > cold block cold intake < warm block cold intake

Of course you wait until the engine is at running temperature before you get into it. Your engine can go bump in the night (or day) if you goose it cold too hard. Hence the term "warm up laps" in all forms of racing. If they started a NASCAR race immediately before any of the engine had a chance to thoroughly warm up, there would be engine parts all over the raceway. Don't be stupid, warm up your engine before getting hard into it!
