Gear Oil
I'm going to put my 4.10 gears in this weekend. I was wondering what oil to put in the rear differential? What oil weight? Thanks

75w140. As long as it is close, it's fine. I used 85w140 Royal purple (already had a friction modifier, too).

The gear oil that comes with the car from the factory is synthetic 75w-140. You can use 75w-90 in its place.

It took about two and a half quarts before it overflowed a bit. You'll need to buy three quarts.
Manual says 75w140, tag on the diff says 75w140.
For me, 75w90 was too far off.

RE: Gear Oil
Not to argue, but, 75w-90 is fine. I called ford to find out to be sure. The service guy told me that 75w-90 is even better than 75w-140. (Royal purple) [&:]
