the 96 to 98 GTs are not known for their Horse Power.

there 281 CI 2 Valve Non-PI heads. i believe the tranny they have is a tremec T-5? not shure tho, someone will correct me.

i would find a 95GT, for the 5.0.

If all you want is 250rwhp, the 96 may be a perfect fit.

For 250 WHP out of a NPI 4.6L you are gonna need a PI swap, then boltons.

Your GTP (if it is like the 2000 model) will probably run door to door with this car from a roll.

If you can, get a 99+. 225-235 RWHP out of the box, and simple stuff like exhaust makes more power than the NPI version.

True, I agree with 20004.6, but it all depends on how much money you are looking to spend.

If your eclipse is stock you have no hope of running with the GT, it will be a major upgrade.

It is not a bad car, but to get any real performance out of it you just really really need to swap out the H/C/I for at least stock PI stuff (stock 99-04 GT stuff).

A PI swap costs like 1200-1300 in parts from what most kits I have seen. Install would be pretty high so you would need to do it yourself.

With the PI swap, and exhaust, and maybe 1 or 2 intake boltons, you should see somewhere around 250 RHWP. Full boltons and the PI swap with aftermarket cams would be in the 280 RWHP range.

From there the sky is the limit.

i would not beat a 99+ gt but 96's and all those 215 hp ones i own all the time, remeber im AWD turbo 210 hp 3100pnds vs 3400pnds 215hp but 285 TQ is only advantage i kill them off the line 3-4 lengths then hold that, so you could say it would be even from a roll, i know by experiance but the 99+ are no joke. but i really am sick of it breaking down
