The most important modification you'll EVER do is learn how to drive the car.

Inexperienced drivers may look at it and say "that looks easy", but you really have to know the feel of your vehicle and how it's going to react before you can get good.

How many of these people who challenged you have autocrossed before?

all of them have.
I dont think i will take the challenge b/c it will be a watse of time/money to just go out and be beat on.
I dont have 1-2k to drop into the car just for a stupid challenge, ill challenge them to a drag race on an open night at the local drag strip.
Never the less, thanks for the replies and help!

it seems like something not worth investing, you have a mustang, which was built for horsepower and straight line oomph. They do handle great but unless you have the money laying around I wouldn't waste it.

Racing that style from what I understand you have to hold your revs in lower gears as you race to maintain power through the curves and stuff. Dunno if I would want to go for a 4-6000 rpm cruise

upper control arms, sway bars, shocks/struts, lowering springs, and panhard bar
+1...especially the bolded.
Mmm..I say go with IRS for a road course, even with a panhard you'll still be losing grip in tight corners.
