need some advice for launching :/
 

I have had my mustang for about a month and a half. Unfortunately, at the moment I'm 1 for 4 street racing. Lost to an 06 Viper SRT-10, 05 GTO, late 90's or early 00's Trans Am LS1, and the 1 car I should've beat 02 Mustang GT Auto w/ chip tune and exhaust. The only car I beat was a crossfire (not sure which trim it was). I'm still having trouble getting the "perfect" launch for my car. I usually spin out in 1st and grab in the middle of 2nd. Any advice for getting the perfect launch?

I can usualy launch pretty good on the street.. I suck at the track though.. thats a whole 'nother ballgame.

It takes practice. Figure out your slip point. THe RPM where when you slip the clutch out you get juuuuuust a little slide from the tires before they grab and you take off. Its different in every car.. and on different surfaces. THats all you can really do.. practice untill you find that spot for on the street with the tires you have on the car. Find an empty parking lot in the middle of nowhere and just launch. and launch. and launch. untill you get it.

south florida suburbs/city = lots of cops :( I wish I could practice launching but I'm so paranoid with cops. I even have a radar detector but I'm still reluctant to speed b/c this thing goes fast without even feeling like I'm going fast.

U can still practice your launching. just get on it hard untill you reach the speed limit. No law against that.

True, true, but the cops around here are pricks compared to where I was living while going to high school, they'll give tickets for anything. I already got pulled over for my exhaust being too loud and I wasn't even getting on it. OF COURSE ITS GOING TO BE LOUD I'M IN A TUNNEL! Anyways, I guess it wouldn't hurt practicing up to the speed limit a couple times. Thanks.

not to mention if you spin out and goto the speed limit too fast

1) careless driving
2) reckless driving (if other motorist around)
3) accessive acceleration (yes gay but very much a law)

and the 4th that was stated above....your best bet is to find a dark road at night practive 0-50
