Long tube headers premote more scavaging wich helps pull more exhaust from the cylinder. The longtubes make more power, and also the length on the collector can make a difference in what rpm the headers are made for. Long collectors promote power at higher rpm while short collectors are for more power down low. Shorty headers are a different story. They were origonally designed to save space and make power in a factory manafolds position for cars with limited space for long tubes. They make power, but not as much as long tubes. Basicaly the concept for the 4.6 shorty header was made for leagality purposes. As hard as it is to install headers or manafolds on a 4.6 I have no clue why anyone would use the shorty headers, but thats just my opinion.

one is longer and gives more gains(10-15) and makes car have better sound. one is shorter and gives minimal gains over stock manifold(5 hp MAYBE), and sounds a tad bit better then stock manifold.

Cool.... Didn't know that. So basically if I go with long tubes then the magnaflow x pipe I have will be useless and I will have to get another one right?

Long tubes + SHORTY mid pipe + Catback
Short Tubes + Regular Length mid pipe + Catback.

I suggest if you do your exhaust do it all at once.

I have a Magnaflow SS O/R X pipe with 40 series Flowmasters. Isn't welding SS pretty difficult? What brand of headers would ya'll reccomend?

Defanitly get longtubes, I don't understand why people even waste the time with shorties.
