Default MM Sport Box

I was going to go with Maximum Motorsport's Sport Box (link) but I was worried about the 1.6" drop provided by the included H&R Sport springs. Due to the roads I travel (Rural, Highway, & City) I was worried about lowering my car too much.

I've been reading about people dropping their car 3/4"-1" and not even noticing the difference so I'm reconsidering the kit and the drop.

My questions are:

1. Will 1.6" be too much of a drop if I'm worried about speed bumps (already hit my new exhaust on 2 of 'em with stock clearance) and gravel road variances?

2. Will I have alignment issues or will the aftermarket caster/camber plates adjust out any major differences?

3. Will I have tire rubbing issues with my 245/45-17's or any 18"ers I might upgrade to later?

My other option at this point would be to just do the lower CA's and Panhard bar if I don't go with the full kit.

TIA!

I'm noticing the suspension mods don't get discussed nearly as much as performance mods yet everyone seems to have done them...

1) the suspension will get stiffer, but if you do alot of driving across rural roads i would think ground clearance would be an issue. also because the suspension is stiffer the ride quality would really suck when you are off the pavement.

2) for a 1.6" drop the caster & camber plates should be able to compensate.

3) can't help here

if you don't have full length subframe connectors yet, get them. makes a huge difference in the feel of the car.

1. If you are already haveing clearence issues with the stock ride height I would not lower it the 1.6" as you have stated.

2. You will not have any alignment issues, the caster/camber plates will take care of them.

3. I do not think that you will have any rubbing issues with your 17" rims. but if you lower your car and put 18" rims that are wider you might start haveing problems.

If I was you I would go with the contorl arms (upper and lower), panhard bar, and looking at replaceing the struts/shocks with a set of adjustable one's.

Hope this helps you out some.

-Only if you haul @ss over speed bumbs. Just go slow.

2. Will I have alignment issues or will the aftermarket caster/camber plates adjust out any major differences?
-It is probably best to get a re-alignment when working on suspension but most likely wont be a problem.

3. Will I have tire rubbing issues with my 245/45-17's or any 18"ers I might upgrade to later?
-I have 315/35 17's on my rear with a 2 inch drop and i rub just a bit when cornering real hard. Hardly noticeable. So you may rub sum with the 18's.

Thanks guys!

So, replacing the shocks/struts will make a difference, even with the stock springs?

Yeah espically if you use a set of adjustable shocks and struts. That way you can set them for everyday driveing, and when you want to rip around corners to make the suspension a little stiffer, or you can adjust them for going to the track. Also as stated above get a set of full length sub-frame connectors, they will make a big difference.

I am not sure? I have looked at the panhard bars but have not done a lot of re-search on them as far as if you need to remove your upper control arms or not. So hopefully someone on her will set us both stright.

I called MM and they told me that applications such as street or road course applications, you want to do lowers and a panhard. A drag race setup would be uppers and lowers and appropriate springs for front/rear weight transfer.
