Default compatable MAFs????

i was wondering if you could take the MAF off of a bigger ford, say an F-150 or something of that sort and put it onto my mustang instead of having to buy a new one. i have no idea how big the MAFs are on any of the fords but i hear of people taking the gears out of rangers and putting them in stangs so i was curious to know if you could change the MAF out with another ford. let me know if this possible and if so is it worth the money saved. thanks.

do you have to make sure that the MAF is calibrated for your injector size?

when using a maf from a diff vehicle, im almost 99% sure you need to get your ecu reprogrammed for it. its not really worth it

No. To get the FULL potential out of a MAF, you would need upper plenum, T/B, and inletpipe, plus some exaust.

However, it still will add some horsepower all by itself, and you dont need new injectors or anything else to use it.

MM&FF did a test last issue, of installing a C&L upper plenum and T/B to a GT with an exsisting MAF from C&L (the MAF/Filter/Trueflow kit). Otherwise stock, a 03 GT with Underdrive pullys, MAF and a filter put down 245 RWHP. So bascially you are looking at a MAM giving you somewhere around 10 RWHP when coupled to a new filter.

Note: After installing the plenum it made 255.2 HP at the wheels. Not to bad for a 189 dollar mod. They ended up putting a 75MM T/B on there (that i personally think might be a bit to big) and got it to 257.4 RWHP.

I figure it isnt really the plenum doing it all, its getting help from the MAM kit. In other words, if your going to do a MAM swap, might as well get a upper plenum and T/B at the same time. Just cover all of your intake basic bolt-ons in one swipe.

I know that C&L claims that anything that moves the air filter farther away from the MAM doesnt make any since. Not sure if this is applicable to this setup though.

Also, that seems like one heck of a big MAM
