What is everyones opinion on the Lightning??? Like, Dislike, do they mod well?
I looked at an 2002 the other day and almost traded the Gt in but I thought I get some info. If I don't get into this I'm going to look for a 03-04 cobra. What should I do?

 

Lightning is the ONLY truck I would EVER want to own. But I'd rather have the 03/04 Cobra for sure.

 

If it was me I would look for the Cobra, but I do like the Lightning's. I just would personaly like to have a Cobra espically a 03-04 over a Lightning, but this is just me.

 

That's kind of the way I'm leaning also. Seems like the Cobras are the way to go. Other opinions???

 

Cobra, with Mach 1 rear end swap (solid axle), ported blower(stock blower so loud!) and pullies, catted X, borla stingers, etc...

 

Lightenings are sweet but I would go for the Terminator over the Lightening.

 

good friend of mine has a lightning cause he had to sell his stang to get a truck to pull his jetski and boat he bought BUT he wanted to kep the speed so he bought a lightning, he only has a few mods and a tune and i had pretty much a full bolt on GT at the time and i had to spray him to beat him at the track, they have alot of potential and alot of power like a cobra, they a kick in the ***

 

I'd definitely go 03/04 cobra until the marauder gets some serious ballz or the lightning gains an extended cab (I guess thats what the Harley Davidson version is for huh).

 

My buddy back home has a lightning with a pulley/chip upgrade and a k&N filter running 12.89's in the 1/4. I love that thing you can haul *** or haul stuff. He has made mince meet out of several of those v-10 dodge bumble bee trucks. Its just a neat truck.

 

my 2 cents...if your thinking lightning vs cobra your talking car vs truck. theyre totally different things considering handling which i think is a big deal. With similar mods, a cobra is gonna be faster with a higher top speed. cobra is also manual, something i wouldn't want to give up. so you gotta think about your needs. However, my good friend has an 00 lightning and i drive it regularly. Its definitely fun and fast. with a volant cai and bassani exhaust it beats the hell outta my gt...loud and mean too. It gets surprisingly good traction off the line and through corners (for a truck). If youre looking for a truck, id def. say lightning over anything else, including srt-10, rumble bee ect. the lightnings have alot of potential too for relatively little money. I was seriously considering trading in my gt for an 01 lightning, but the practicality of it (barely a 3 seater), lack of manual tranny and its need of premium fuel only made me think twice. If i ever do need a truck that wont be doing any off roading a lightning is what ill get.
