Default Digital speedo/odometer trick???

Has anyone tried the neat trick where you change your odometer into a digital speedo and also get other kinds of cool things? Can you leave it on there all the time? Does it hurt anything by leaving it there? Can it be changed back? Anyone have theirs changed?

Ive read about it, seems pretty freakin cool... But Im took scared to try that electrical crap. With my luck I would effect something major and not be able to get it to work again.

yeah it is a pretty neat little trick- like said it resets everytime you turn off the ignition. Its pretty easy- and a good way to get engine codes as well.

is it possible to do it without reseting the trip meter? seems like it takes 3 sec to reset the trip and 5 sec to get into the diagnostic mode...
