SLP X pipe, check engine light
ok then , thanks man thats good news because inspection is comming up in Aug. What kind of #'s ya think i could put down with my mods (im auto remember[:'(]) also what is a good price that you would pay for the dyno tune, the places around here have a rep for being a little pricey
in the short term, is it going to hurt to drive the car running lean? I believe the general rule around here seems to be not to F around with the A/F with the predator unless your on a dyno and are a professional , so just wait for the dyno? My appt for them to re shim/adjust my F'd up gears is on May 17th so will it be OK till then?
Shutting off the rear o2 sensors does not F up your engine. There are four oxygen sensors on you midpipe. The first 2 check the fumes coming out of the motor, the second set of two make sure the cats are working. When you shut the second set off using your tuner the computer will think the cats are working fine, it will not screw anythin up and you won't have to worry about the emissions tester finding out if you reset any fault codes in your motor. Now, for the second part, yes the proper way to adjust your A/F is to get a dyno tune or a wideband oxygen sensor setup. Now everyone around here will tell you not to mess with you A/F on the DIablosport, but IMO if you are on the dyno, the readout will give you what your A/F is across the entire test, therefore you can adjust it leaner or richer in between your runs until you get it in a safe zone. Do not try to squeeze as much HP out of it as you can. The leaner you run it the more power you will produce but the hotter your engine will run, this = bad for motor. Just get the A/F set at a good point and if you lose 1-3 HP do not worry, the motor will last a lot longer at a safe A/F ratio.
I have to ask this question. Did you or they disconnect the battery before installing the x pipe? I didn't disconnect my battery once when installing an x pipe and touched the starter and blew the fuse for the O2 sensors. I couldn't figure out why I kept getting codes for the O2 sensors until I checked the fuses and found it was blown. Although this may not be the case just check your fuses to see if any are blown.
