my mustang gt is getting up their in the miles (169,000) and i want to know some ballpark est on how much to get it rebuilt? as always thanks for replying

 

depends on what you want. just new rings and gaskets or what??? my last "rebuild" was 9000$ lol

 

a basic rebuild maybe a bore size up over 30

 

mod motors they usually do .020 over. so new pistons, rings and just general stuff??? um 2000$ with labor maybe.

 

got quoted here in stl at over $3000

get a used pi motor for $1500 and pay someone $1000 to put it in and enjoy the new power

 

What's a PI motor?

 

PI stands for Performance Improved and mainly refers to the heads which dramatically outflow there predecessor. These motors came in 99 - 04 GT's.

 

dont forget the fact that a PI motor makes about 55 more horsepower than a non-PI motor

If my engine blows or becomes damaged in any way I will replace mine with a low-mileage PI motor

its cheaper than a rebuild, granted its not a new motor but if you can hear it run WTF! and its 55 more hp. There are a ton of wrecked mustangs out there with perfectly good motors in them ready to be sold. look on ebay. one just sold for $1600 and it was out of an 04 gt with 8100 miles on it....8100 miles, thats like 3 months worth of driving for me..may as well be brand new
