Default Big! Handling Problems.........

I recently went with 265/35ZR18 Nexen 3000's on my 99 GT conv. Started with about 45 psi and car swerved all over the road on any pavement slightly uneven. Went down to 35lb and handling is a little better. Replaced control arm bushings.......no help. What IS the correct inflation for this tire?....what would be the lower limit? any suggestions? thanks

Is your car lowered?

If it is, the wider tires can cause bump steer because of the difference in front end geometry.

in my experience the wider the tire the more the vehicle will follow every dip in the road, ya' just have to pay extra attention

when you droped psi, what happened. are you pulling to one side all the time or is the car shimming and pulling to both side. little more info would def. help. are the tires directional and mounted the correctly. how are your breaks and alignment. the more in depth you go, the more we can help

The tires are directional and mounted correctly. Alignment was just done. Brakes have not been changed..47k miles on them. When I lowered the pressure to 31 the drive improved very little. Car does not pull to one side....it will swerve to either side. Steering feels tight but the car just seems to veer where it wants.....road surface condition (grooves etc) seems to have the biggest impact.

That is the problem with wider tires sometimes. Your car will want to 'follow' every rut, even if you can't see them. It's not the car or the tires, really - it's the road.
