CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
Got a question? My check engine soon light is on... I installed a vortec supercharger in my 4.6 GT, Mac Performance X Pipes, and 3.73 gears. The check engine light is on??? Do you have any ideas why this would be, or how to fix it, and where to get the parts. My Ford dealership told me it was running to rich. So I think that I may possibly need a new computer chip for it. One more thing because of the 3.73's my speedo is about 10 off, would the new chip correct this? Thanks

RE: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
the vortec comes with a chip (think its an autologic) to make it run rich...you definetaly want it to run rich to prevent burning holes in your pistons...and second, what were you doing installing a blower on your car without basic knowledge of superchargers???

RE: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
The check engine light is on because of your X-pipe. They do not have catalytic converters and the O2 sensor that is on them is telling your computer that your emissions are bad. I have the same problem. Go on eBay and search for MIL eliminators. These will correct the problem. After installing them have the shop scan your cars computer and clear the codes and the light should be gone forever.

RE: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
I know this seems stupid but the pipes where on there when I bought it? So I don't know which ones they are.
What are MIL Eliminators?:
PEPâ„¢ MIL Eliminators or Malfunction Indicator Light Eliminators, are electronic devices that prevent your "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light from coming on when an offroad H or X pipe is installed on a late-model vehicle with OBD-II emissions systems. If you install an Offroad H or X pipe on your car without MIL Eliminators, your "Check Engine" or Service Engine Soon" will always be on, and you won't have the opportunity of being alerted if something more serious is wrong with your vehicle.

RE: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
I didn't personally install it. A performance shop did, I don't think they knew what they were doing....
And thanks for the eliminator help!
