Default 93 octane

Well I have used 93 octane gas since I bought my car in January but gas prices are crazy right now so I decided to fill up with 87 octane. Now my car feels like it's hesitating going up hills and I can hear the valves chattering. I waited until I used about 1/2 tank and filled up with 93 octane and everythings fine. Did I spoil my car or something WTF?

Unless your tuned for 93 octane there is no reason you should be using it. My guess is your imagining it. Your just hearing things you wouldn't normally hear because your looking for something to be wrong. All your car needs and all you should use is 87 octane unless your tuned for more. Otherwise your just wasting money.

So after running 93 octane for 6 months it won't hurt anything to change to 87 octane?

04dsgb, mine does the same thing. yes, our cars are suppossed to take 87, but if i run it, it rattles like you wouldn't believe. have to run 93. i've heard there's carbon built up on the valves is why it rattles. but, i've heard new cars rattle on 87. 87 is good for lawn mowers. i don't think you are "imagining it". all depends on how much the rattle bothers you.
moose, that was dumb to say man. people know their own cars, they know when something sounds different.

Thanks man. I know my car and I can tell when something is not right. Sometimes people are a$$holes on this forum.

04, everyone here has an opinion. just take the good with the bad. run what you want. i don't have the funds to rebuild heads right now, 117,000 miles, so i just use 93.

That is true opinions are like A holes everyone has one. I think I will continue to run 93 octane, hell it's only a few extra bones per tank.

whoa... why are you doggin on hank... if you know so much bout your car don't ask for help... ****, all he did was suggest that you didn't have to run 93... I don't even know why you would run 93 in the first place... if you don't have extreme compression, advanced timing, or boost... why would you even run that ****... hell if you don't feel like running 87 run 91 or even 89... but don't ask for someone's opinion if you don't wanna hear what they have to say. And sure as hell don't call him an a$$hole for assisting you.

First of all I was not ******* on Hank. I didn't like when he said I was imagining things when I know my car and how it performs. All I was asking was if changing octane could cause this problem. White 98 GT agreed with me about his post and said his car does the same thing as mine. I do want to hear peoples opinions but being a smart a$$ is not what I want to hear. BTW who are you his daddy or something damn.
