Default safe horses

ok so i hear alot of you guys talking about 440/450 is about the most you want to go on the stock short block. thats cool but is that to the wheels or at the crank. im going to s/c within the month and i got a couple of #'s in mind. i want to run 8 lbs i also want around 390 to the wheels or i want to run deep deep into the 12's maybe even crack off and 11.89 in the right conditions. that would be so freakin awsome. do any of these #'s match up. going back to my fist question how much am i going to lose through my drive train
