Default Cam install?

I`ve decided to go with VT stage 1 cams for my next mod. Has anyone installed cams on these engines? Is it a PITA? Should I even attempt to do it myself? Or pay to have it done?
After the install, how do I tune the car with my predator?
All help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Dude, get the stage 2's. You shouldnt need valve springs with the VT cams. Trust me, you will regret the stage 1's when you hear the slight lope in the idle. My car sounds like it has stage 1 cams when I first start it up. Plus, you will see better gains in the future if and when you upgrade the heads.

Stage 2's wont benefit you if you have a stock bottom end, go with the stage 1's like youve planned. I also am planning on stage 1's but also have questions regarding the tuning part. I really have no idea what to do with the predator once you go to tune it...

The VT stage 2's are said by VT that they do not need valve spring upgrades.

thats not what i read on their website:
Stage 2 cams are the perfect choice for ported heads and all out N/A street/strip performance. MUST BE USED WITH AFTERMARKET VALVESPRINGS. Aggressive idle. 3000-6500 prm. Gains of 30-35rwhp are common. Like 3.73 gear or better and 2800+ stall in auto's. MUST BE TUNED AFTER INSTALL. .560/.575 lift, 225/235 .050" duration, 108 LSA
straight from the website!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Yeah I seen that too on their website. I dont plan on upgrading my heads in the future or re doing my lower end. Thats why I want to go with stage 1`s.

Thats what they told me when I called them. They have to put that on the website to make sure they cover their butts if a motor breaks with stock valve springs. They said it should work just fine on a stock motor as long as you dont over rev the engine. Just have your tuner leave the rev limiter in place so you dont get a spun bearing.
