Default SLP vs. the rest

I know that SLP LT headers are like $700, and bbk and mac are from like $340 to about $500.... Are SLP headers that much better or are you just paying for the name?

SLP headers are better quality then the rest. SLP headers are not only ceramic coated but are also SS. So therefore, SLP never really makes you pay for their name, hense their catbacks (cheap), but their headers are indeed better quality.

The question is do you reallllyyy need that? I decided I didn't and went for the middle man - BBK. I couldn't be any more pleased with their fitment and quality.

Plus if you go with SLP headers, you HAVE to go with their midpipe too, because they use clamp technology, not flanges. Obviously then you could do any catback you want, but that is also something to consider, you will have to get their midpipe. Not that its a bad thing because SLP makes terrific products, but it does get expensive. Its up to you!

i see....well how are mac headers? They seem fairly cheap, but does that mean the quality is cheap as well?

Code has MAC LTs. He is very happy with them, their quality continues to get better and better, not even that they were bad. MAC LTs had some fairly recent write ups too about how their headers are just as good as the rest.

Code vouges for them, I know that because I talked to him when I needed some headers. The only reason I went BBK is because most likely slightly better quality and the fitment is perfect. Thats the downside to MAC LTs, a little modification needs to be done to the flanges to get them to align perfectly, and I didn't want to go thru that.

Otherwise I have heard their headers are very good.

If you end up getting them done by a shop you are looking at paying about $400 for a shop to do it. That just seems to be the price I hear most of the time. Sometimes people might pay it just because it isn't worth the aggrivation. You have to get a match midpipe if you get longtubes, which would be the shorty x or h pipe.

Yes its going to cost more to have them make modifications because your on the clock and mechanics are hourly. So yes your looking at more money for the install. Thats why I went with BBK, because I got a little better quality and it would have ended up costing the same.

And yes, if you get the headers you HAVE to get a matching midpipe at the same time, otherwise you won't have a midpipe. You have to put LTs and a shorty midpipe on at the same time.

no you are really just paying for the name. thats why i went with bbk also. install was very good and they fit good. no modification needed. i dont see why people pay for these expensive headers when you can settle for somthing that does the same thing for half the price. i think bbk headers can be compared to slp's catbacks. they are cheap and fit and they also have good quality. but if you do get slp you also KNOW for sure you are getting the top of the line and proven to be good. im saying this for the regulare mustang owners that dont have tons of money laying around. if i had alot of money i would of gotten slp. thats just my opinion

So no regular H or X pipes work with LT's? You have to get the shorties? How much do shortie mid pipes cost? I was planning on getting a mid pipe and down the road get LT's, but if it is true then there goes that plan...

I can't get MAC pro-chambers and then later get MAC LT's?
