when ever i press the over drive button is done nothign the light never comes on, the rpms neva change.. So i think it is broken. How would i fix this and am i driving with over drive on or off since i cant change it...????

 

your driving with it on if the od off light isnt on. it resets when you turn off your car to od on. do this http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/dtcodes.htm and check if the bulb to that light is out. if it doesnt come on that means the bulb is just out. and you got to replace that. hopefully its just the bulb

 

I'm thinking that your OD Switch is either bad, or the light bulb is burnt like wwmost stated...


I say the switch first, mainly because if the bulb was burnt out, the RPM's would still increase on a downshift... But it's possible your car just isn't switching into another gear....

ok then im pretty sure its not a bulb..so if its broke that means im driving with over drive off since it wont turn on... so how owuld i fix this if it was broken or should i not wast the money into fixing it..

 

every time you shut off your car it turns the over drive back to od on. soo when you start it it always starts with the over drive on.

You gotta' turn it off. Not only for the better performance, but I'm told that the O/D gear is weak and subject to breaking...

 

if you ever make it to the end of all your gears when you hit od your car is just gonna fall on its face. and its a no no to spray in od if you have nitrous.
