Default 4.6 woes

I had just got a 4.6L for my birthday (a week late, extremely awesome present) a 1997 Gt 4.6L convertible fully loaded stock with 80000 miles. It is a 5-speed, and it had rained today before i drove it. Well me and my dad were trying to burn the tires and we coudlnt, even popping the clutch at 3 grand would just bark em. I really doubt that it has traction control. Is something a miss and how can i fix that?

Please help, this is my first post by the way

1st gear 3k rpms, drop the clutch, tires spin. traction contol would stop them from spinning.

also could be a bad clutch that just isnt grabbing

What part of the country do you live in (elevation)? What kind of tires? That year 4.6L isn't particularly strong, especially in a convertible. You might want to think about a tune up (plugs and wires) and make sure the sensors are all working correctly. A bad sensor can give you poor performance without throwing a code...
