Default new engine?

My 00 GT has about 74000 miles on it and i was wondering how many more miles i got before i should start thinking about getting a new engine. Also what engine should i go with if im gonna be putting sumthing new in. Or do i stay with the 2v and have it rebuilt?

4.6s should be pretty reliable. You're probably not even half-way through its life. But a rebuild depends on what you want to do... A rebuild would be advisable if you want to SC it.

These things go for a long time if you take care of them. We did a poll on another Mustang Forum about how many miles you have and i was surprised at how many 4.6 2V's are running strong with over 250,000 miles. NYC requires Taxi's to retire when they hit 400,000 miles and many Taxi companies are complaining because the 4.6's are still purring when they have to take them off the streets.

In California traffic, I don't have a choice about how fast I can drive. My cars almost never see anything over 2500 rpm...
