check engine light?
I was driving on my way home from work today and the check engine light came on. i checked the codes and came up with p01340, camshaft position sensor circuit failure bank 1/1. any ideas what this code mean? do i have to just replace the sensor?

RE: check engine light?
For you ECU to know when to fire each cylinder, it needs to know what position your cams/engine are at. Otherwise, the engine could fire the coil when the car is on the exhaust stroke, thus mis-firing..
I'm thinking Bank 1/1 means that the side of the engine w/ the #1 cylinder's Cam Angle Sensor is the side to start looking at.. I don't believe the CAS are hard to change either.. They may be a little pricey though.. I haven't had to do one on my car yet...

A lot of people seem to have the code randomly appear and there sometimes is no problem.
I'd clear the code, drive the car gently for a couple days and see if the light returns, then look into replacing the sensor.

RE: check engine light?
that damn code still gives me nightmares..... i had that along with a random misfire code a few months ago. after two new sensors the code was still there and there were no breaks in the harness, turns out it was a bad regulator so i had the alternator rebuilt and it was all good.
i'm not saying this is your problem, so i would reset the pcm and see if it pops back up. if it does, just get a new sensor and if that fails you might be in the same boat as me
