Default how detectable?????

How detectable is a bent valve?

Can it make my car run like crap?

Ok. My timing chain broke. And after thinking about it i just put on a new one? Started it up and it ran like crap!

So I decided to pull the head. I did and everything looks great. I konw for sure one valve took a hit. It's on the number 8 cylinder. The piston has a minor ding on it?

The only prob is the valve looks good. Just a little discolored where it took the ding.
Can this cause it to run so crapy????

(THis post is also in genral tech......since no one goes in there i moved it here!)

1 slightly bent valve would only cause cause a mild skip. I would suggest you take both heads to a machine shop and have them go through them, they have the tools and experience to fix them right. Thats what I would do.

You need to set the timing again....

You're playing with fire by operating a motor with a damaged piston...

good lucky montey, don't forget if you had a bent valve it would show up in a compression test
